The streaming landscape has long been dominated by Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime, but things are about to change. New services offered by both Disney and Apple that aim to provide Netflix-like services are set to become available in the near future. These new streaming options will not only open the possibility of even more programming to fit your needs, but will offer you just another option to cut the cable cord.

Streaming is a great option that, for a minimal monthly fee, relies on your internet connection and your television. Let's take a look at these two new services expected to be available in 2019.

Disney Plus

Disney has revealed a sneak preview of the streaming service called Disney Plus. This service will be very similar to Netflix, offering a range of original programming including a Star Wars television series. The Disney-owned company will also maintain exclusive rights to all of its produced movies including Star Wars, Marvel, and Pixar productions. This means that in the future, Disney Plus will be the only place subscribers will be able to stream theatrically released movies.

The most appealing part to Disney Plus is the price. Coming in at $7 per month, or $70 for the year, Disney Plus is the cheapest streaming option, which nearly cuts the cost of a Netflix subscription in half. Disney Plus is set to be released in November of 2019.

Apple TV-Plus

Released by Apple, Apple TV-Plus promises to be a streaming service unlike anything the world has experienced before. Not only will Apple produce original content from acclaimed directors such as JJ Abrams and Steven Spielberg, but it will have available docu-series to view from some of the world's most popular personalities including Ellen and Oprah. Even the most basic streaming package offered will be advertisement free and will be available in over 100 countries worldwide.

One noteworthy piece about Apple TV-Plus is that while it will contain exclusive content from keynote speakers and personalities, and it will not stream syndicated network programming. To watch your favorite shows, like the Big Bang Theory or Seinfeld, users will still have to use iTunes to download content. Apple TV-Plus is set to be released in the fall of 2019, setting up for a battle of titans between Apple and Disney.
